Captain Morgan Jack-O’Blast is Your Perfect Fall Spirit

Ask anyone that knows me and you’ll realize that I’m a BIG fan of fall. The leaves are changing, the humidity is leaving the air, and that’s not to mention cooler temperatures mean comfortable sweaters and cozy days indoors…what’s not to like?! And now Halloween is upon us, which means I’m trying to take in all things pumpkin.

To quench my thirst, the folks over at Captain Morgan sent along their annual fall treat, Captain Morgan’s Jack-O’Blast. This pumpkin spiced spirit is the perfect treat for those who are Halloween obsessed but is also good for those who might want a little extra kick in your PSL. Let’s all quit acting like we don’t drink them, OK?!

Jack-O’Blast is a fall-inspired shot that blends Caribbean rum with some delicious seasonal flavors – including fresh pumpkin, cinnamon and other spices. Best enjoyed as a chilled shot, Jack-O’Blast can also be served as a drop shot or in a number of seasonal drink recipes. And, let’s be honest, this is also going to be dropped into some fall bread or cake recipe too. I mean, why not?!

So whether you’re in a pretty raucous Halloween spirit or just want to feel a little more fall in your bones, Jack-O’Blast is offering up some pretty solid drink recipes to give you what you need. Check them out!


Pumpkin Spiced Shotte

1 oz. Captain Morgan Jack-O’Blast

1 oz. Captain Morgan LocoNut

  1. oz. Cold Brew

Top with Whipped Cream & Cinnamon

Combine Jack-O’Blast, LocoNut and cold brew in a shaker with ice. Pour into 2.5 oz. shot glass, top with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.


Apple Jack-O

1.5 oz. Captain Morgan Jack-O’Blast

4 oz. chilled apple cider

Combine all ingredients in a glass filled with ice, stir and serve.

I, personally, tend to take cider in small doses because it can be a little too sweet more often than not. But, with Captain Morgan’s Jack-O’Blast, hard cider hits the spot. And I’m waiting for it to get even colder so I can whip up some hot buttered rum with this stuff. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The pumpkin spiced rum (60 proof, 30% ABV) has a suggested retail price of $15.99 for a 750 ml bottle and is currently available nationwide for a limited time this fall. That means, if you’re in the market for some Jack-O’Blast you’re going to need to get it soon!


Celebrate National Rum Day with Captain Morgan

Today is National Rum Day!  If you’re looking for an unusual yet tasty drink to enjoy today then check out my recipe for the Captain Morgan Twizzted.  It’s one part sugar and one part spice!

In honor of National Rum Day, the folks over at Captain Morgan sent out a call to bloggers to help create an unconventional recipe using a mystery box of ingredients.  Here’s what my box looked like:


Unfortunately, the Pringles and Hershey’s really only helped get my creative juices flowing.  I was able to come up with a way to transform a few of the ingredients to create a drink I’ve named the Captain Morgan Twizzted.  It is pretty much as strange as it sounds!

Captain Morgan TwizztedWhat you’ll need:
3 sticks of Twizzlers
3 cups water
Texas Pete Sriracha
3/4 shot Liber & Co Tonic Syrup
1 shot Captain Morgan White Rum

1. Fill 3-5 ice cubes in a tray with 1/2 water and 1/2 Texas Pete Sriracha. Freeze.
2. Heat water in small saucepan until boiling. Add chopped Twizzlers sticks and cook until water is reduced by about 1/2. Strain the liquid then cool.
3. Add sriracha ice to tall drink glass. Add plain ice if needed. Add one shot Captain Morgan White Rum, then 3/4 shot Liber & Co. Tonic Syrup. Add cooled Twizzler reduction to fill. Stir.
4. Add additional drops of Texas Pete Sriracha for additional spice (optional).
5. Enjoy!
