I use a wide tooth pick (not the one with the fist lol). To me it’s easier to grip than a comb. I only use the denman now when I do a blow out or when I used to flat iron.

Nothing like the good ol’ pick. Preferably a plastic one as opposed to a metal one. Or you could use the wide tooth comb. Comb the hair in sections, use your other hand to hold the hair firmly in place while you comb the ends. This prevents the comb from pulling at the roots.

    hope this helps

I personally have tried every type of detangling tool known to man! I recently started to use the Tangle Teezer that is sold as Sally’s Hair and Beauty Supply and also on Kinky Curly’s website. What I have notice about the Tangle Teezer that is does a really great job at detangling with out it:
    A) removing my curl definition
    B) Pulling out my hair
    C) Only removing shed hair
My detangling time has been cut in half and it is super easy to use. Also, I love the fact that there is no handles and it fits in the palm of your hand. With a really great conditioner, the Tangle Teezer can slip straight through my hair without any problems.

I just use my fingers, and occasionally a wide tooth comb. I’ve found it easier to at least finger detangle and put my hair in twists before I shampoo, and then detangle again in small sections twist by twist after I’ve conditioned with conditioner on my hair.

With a wet head full of conditioner I detangle with a wide tooth comb, followed by my modified Denman brush. Note: I always make sure that the conditioner has been on for at least 5 minutes.
