I think that having a good conditioner is probably the most important part of maintaining a head full of healthy hair. I go through bottles of conditioner like nobody’s business thanks to my super thick fro. This is my second go round with the Trader Joe’s Conditioner so I’m a bit more comfortable sharing my impression. Check it out!
Packaging: Overwrought package design can really irritate me, but thankfully Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle doesn’t hit that mark. The packaging is simple and clean which I really appreciate. However, the bottle is a bit of an odd shape for a conditioner (maybe a trapezoid?) but I also find it pretty easy to handle. My main gripe about the packaging is that the font is a bit small to really encourage anyone to take time to read the ingredients and benefits of the product. My eyesight has always been pretty solid and even I find myself squinting a bit when I want to check out the product’s benefits. But, like I mentioned earlier, the unconventional shape allows for smaller hands to grasp it easily unlike something like Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner.
Consistency: I am consistently surprised by the consistency of this product. It has a lot of body which is both my favorite and least favorite part of this product. It’s thick and creamy and the texture reminds me of the Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle which is definitely a good thing. The only real downside to this is that it takes me a bit of coaxing to cover the length of my strands. To help it along, after I smooth it on, I put some water in the palms of my hands and re-smooth. That seems to get the job done!
Smell: So this smell is definitely not for the faint of heart. The second ingredient is peppermint oil and this conditioner reeks of that menthol smell. It’s almost medicinal actually. For me, it’s not my favorite part of the product but I don’t really mind it that much. That being said, I think the scent is a big departure from many other natural products that have strong floral notes.
Price: This is where this conditioner really stands out. If you’re lucky enough to be near a Trader Joe’s then this is worth a shot while you’re stocking up on other items. For $3.99 you get 16 ounces of conditioner. And did I mention the conditioner is all natural, organic AND cruelty free? And again…4 bucks. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Overall Impression: If you need a solid conditioner in a pinch then this is one to look for. Because of its great ingredients and exceptional value I have definitely incorporated this product into my winter regimen. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you then it’s definitely worth a try!
Have you tried it? What do you think?

*ugh* LOL. I was sooo not wanting to hear a GOOD review on this since I am a Conditioner Junkie and we just had a TJs open up in our area recently! LOL. And it just so happens that we’re due make a TJs visit on Sunday! Guess I’ll be getting this! I loved Giovanni’s Triple Tea Threat (is that the name of it??) when I first did my BC, but during my natural journey I seek to find cheaper alternatives if possible. I used Suave’s Rosemary Mint and fell in love and I’ve been dying to try TJs products for quite some time now….I guess I know the FIRST thing that’ll be on my TJs list for Sunday….
Thanks for the review!
Hahaha sorry to feed your junkie-ism! But guess what, now that Suave Rosemary Mint is now on my list. Even trade lol
I love the Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner and Shampoo especially as a clarifying treatment for my hair it gets the job done without leaving lots of residue, it’s now one of my staple products. Thanks for this post.
Thanks for the feedback!
So does it tingle like it says in the name? Ha. I may try this too, would like to find a better shampoo as well, suggestions?
I didn’t really get the tingle from this. If it’s tingle you want then I would suggest trying out Dr. Miracle’s products. They’re more medicinal and the scents are *cough* assertive so keep that in mind. BUT, my all time favorite shampoo would have to be Kinky Curly’s Come Clean. I did a review on it if you want a more thorough review.
[...] Saturdays are usually wash days for me and yesterday was no exception. This time I decided to try something that I have never done before…go styler free. I washed with Dr. Miracle’s Shampoo and Conditioner then conditioned and detangled with Trader Joe’s Conditioner. [...]
